The chariot-cannon clamp
夹车炮 — a chariot doubling the cannons — is 重炮 with a bodyguard. The front cannon sits at the palace heart e8 as before, but now the chariot on d8 guards it along the rank, so no black piece can even dream of capturing the screen. The rear cannon is still out on the wing; one slide to e2 joins the battery: the rear cannon fires through the front cannon, the chariot polices the heart, and Black's horse on h9 reaches neither the e-file nor a single killer — from h9 it can only hop to f8 and g7. Close the clamp.
