◇ Just read — no move neededEight points from the river mouth
Plant a horse on one of the two central river-bank points — d4 or f4 — and it commands eight squares at once, four on each side of the river: drops like e6 and c6 for attack, home squares like c2 and e2 for defence. No other point gives the horse reach on both halves at once, which is why every opening fights for the river mouth (河口). This is the strongest outpost a horse can hold.
