◇ Just read — no move neededAll strength on one wing
过宫炮 — the palace cannon — slides the right cannon across the palace to d2 in one move. Nothing is attacked, yet much is decided: cannon, horse and elephant cluster on one wing where they root one another, the h-file the cannon vacated is handed straight to the chariot, and the whole formation becomes compact and hard to crack. The trade-off is tempo — the system accepts a quiet start and plans a solid centre, patient development, and a strike only when a real target shows itself.
