The strength-2 engine of chapter 7 forgave almost anything. This one does not: every loose pawn is grabbed, every weak point is pressed, and one slow move can hand over the initiative for good. Build your game the way the model lessons taught: develop with purpose, keep every piece defended, and ask what your move threatens before asking what it does. A simple scoreboard for this level: after each of your moves, count the undefended pieces on both sides — the side with more loose pieces usually loses the next tactic.
