Against the central cannon Black can answer in kind on the same wing — the same-direction cannon (顺炮), cannon facing cannon with the centre as no-man's-land. The classic battle inside this opening is the direct chariot against the horizontal chariot — one side shows its road, the other keeps its destination secret.
